I usually ensure that each post has at least one actionable step, something that you, the reader, can go out and do.  But every once in a while, I like to just ponder over something, and today is one of those days… and it’s looking at sustainability.

Sustainability is defined as he ability to endure.  The dictionary offers over 10 different words that serve as synonyms for sustainability, including maintainable, supportable, bearable, justifiable, workable, defensible and viable.

Used in the context of the environment, sustainability captures the basic idea of getting a solution for the current that will not compromise the well-being of future generations.  Will the environment be able to bear our consumption of resources now and still have enough resources left for generations to come?

Greening your life is about making choices today that meet your needs without putting future generations at risk.  It wakes us up to the reality of non-renewable energy sources running out, over-consumption turning earth into a rubbish heap, a world population that is exploding, to name but a few.

But more importantly, it raises the question to you and me: What, if anything, will you do about it today and tomorrow and the day after?  We are the generation to turn the tide.  The writing is on the wall.  Are you up for the challenge? Share with us what you are doing to make your life more sustainable?
